Minimum Admission Requirements
A new American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) regulation states that candidates applying for certification beginning in January 2015 must have earned a minimum of an associate’s degree from an institution accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT. Due to this requirement, the program has changed its admission requirements for the class beginning in 2013 to the following:
- Applicants must possess a minimum of an associate degree. As of January
2013, the ARRT will recognize degrees earned from an institution that is
accredited by an organization that is recognized by the US Department of
Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The
institution must be authorized to grant degrees by the US Congress, state
government, or a recognized sovereign Indian tribe. Therefore, the degree
does NOT have to be earned from a regionally accredited institution as
previously required. Applicants may apply to the program if they will
complete their degree prior to the class start date.
- Any degree will be acceptable however; there must be a minimum of 15 credit hours of general education coursework included from the following areas:
- Mathematical/ Logical Reasoning (Required)
- Written/Oral Communications (Required)
- Arts and Humanities
- Information Systems
- Social/Behavioral Sciences
- Natural Sciences
*Note: Mathematical/Logical Reasoning and Written/Oral Communications are required to satisfy a portion of the 15 hour requirement.
- Take the Health Occupations Aptitude Examination (exam fee included in application fee)
- Submit four letters of recommendation (reference forms included in application packet).
- Self-Evaluation (form included in application packet)
- Radiology Career Essay
- Official transcripts of all prior education.
* Completion of all minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission.
